West Ham 2
Reading 1
(Barclays Premier Reserve League)
WEST Ham reserves moved to the top of the Premier Reserve League southern section table after an impressive win over a strong Reading outfit.
Skipper Jack Collison opened the scoring in the 28th minute, the midfielder playing a one-two with Luis Boa Morte before sending a curling shot into the far corner.
The lead was doubled before the half thanks to a Ibrahima Sonko own goal, the defender overhitting a backpass that flew beyond Royals keeper Adam Federici.
Dave Kitson's close range effort in stoppage time was no more than a consolation for a Reading side boasting a number of experienced first-teamers.
Kevin Keen's men are now a point ahead of leaders Aston Villa and two above Reading, although both have a game in hand.
Next up for the Hammers is Chelsea on March 31.
West Ham: Street, Spence, Tomkins, N'Gala. Widdowson, Stansislas (Payne 75), Stokes (Hales 67), Collison, Reid, Boa Morte, Hines. Unused subs: Miller, Edgar, Harvey.
