JACK Collison is looking to cap a fine individual season by establishing himself in the first teams of both club and country.

The 19-year-old has made a big impression for West Ham and Wales at reserve team and U21 level respectively.

But he insists that the time has come to start making a serious play for the senior set ups.

"It is exciting times," he said. "It has been a good season but I want more of it - I don't want to stop here.

"I need to work my way into both first teams and take it from there."

Collison is the captain of the Irons successful reserve side and made his one and only senior appearance as a substitute against Arsenal on New Year's Day.

But it is for Wales in particular that the midfielder is making a real name for himself by playing a pivitol role in his country's bid for a place at the 2009 European U21 Championships.

The Watford-born youngster has scored twice in four internationals since making the breakthrough in November.

He also helped his team to a 2-1 win in Bosnia-Herzegovina yesterday which takes them four points clear at the top of their qualifying group.

Although only the group winners are guaranteed a play-off spot, Collison is confident that he now has a great chance of playing in the finals in Sweden.

"There is a lot of talent and a lot of boys to look out for," he said of the exciting Wales U21 team.

"The U21s have never qualified for anything but at the moment they are the priority with Wales because they are so successful."
