WEST HAM winger Junior Stanislas insists it was a dream come true to have scored his first goal for the club at Upton Park.
The 19-year-old opened the scoring during the Hammers' 2-0 win over Sunderland on Saturday in what was only his second appearance for the first team.
Stanislas only found he was playing two hours before kick-off, and quickly called his friends, asking them to come to the match. After tapping in Luis Boa Morte's centre in the first half he slid towards the corner flag and pointed to his group of supporters in the crowd. He admitted it was amazing to have scored on his first start for the team.
“It was a great feeling and I've been dreaming about it for years now. To start in the Premier League and to score is amazing,” he beamed.
Afterwards he revealed that there were no pre-game nerves, and that manager Gianfranco Zola had told him just to play his normal game.
“He just said 'clear your mind and go out and play your normal game',” he added. “There were maybe a few butterflies but there were no nerves. You've got to be your own man and play your normal game, and do what you're good at.”
