WEST HAM midfielder Luis Boa Morte insists it has been a boost to hear the supporters chant his name once more after a difficult relationship with the Hammers faithful during the season.

The Portugal international struggled at times during the 2008/09 campaign and the Upton Park fans let him know they were frustrated.

But, as Boa Morte started to find his form, the crowd have responded, and he has received plenty of support in the closing stages in the season.

He also received a strong reception on the final day of the season, when he played a key part in Carlton Cole's opening goal in the 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough at the Boleyn Ground on Sunday.

“Of course it's a good buzz to hear your name, it makes you feel happy,” the 31-year-old told the club's website. “I just hope things keep going like this.

“It has been a difficult marriage with the supporters but things have been working out and that is the most important thing. Now it is up to the club to do what they want to do with me. I have got a year left and we will see where this takes us.”

West Ham boss Gianfranco Zola has some tough decisions ahead of him this summer, with Boa Morte one of several squad members whose contracts are coming towards an end.
