WEST HAM defender James Collins has reportedly rejected Stoke's offer after the two clubs were said to have agreed a fee for the Wales international.
BBC Stoke claimed a deal worth around £3.5million had been struck between the Hammers and the Potters yesterday. However, The Sun today reported that Collins has rejected the move following a disagreement over wage demands.
It is thought the defender, who turns 26 on Sunday, was at the Britannia Stadium on Tuesday to discuss personal terms.
Stoke boss Tony Pulis was quoted as saying: “He's one of a number of players we're looking at.”
Should the transfer go through, West Ham could face something of a defensive crisis, with a dearth of experience at the heart of the back four. Matthew Upson remains, although speculation continues to grow over his future, while Danny Gabbidon has returned from injury this season. Last season's skipper Lucas Neill has yet to decide where his future lies after becoming a free agent this summer, while youngster James Tomkins and Calum Davenport have amassed only a handful of appearances for the Hammers at the top level between them.
