GIANFRANCO ZOLA remains unconcerned by West Ham's slump in form, and insists his players can turn everything around when they visit Manchester City on Monday.

The Hammers were dumped out of the Carling Cup by Bolton last night, despite leading for much of the contest. Herita Ilunga's goal looked like being enough to see them through to the last 16, but Kevin Davies' header four minutes from time forced the tie into extra-time.

Defender Gary Cahill's unstoppable shot from outside the box gave Bolton the lead, and Johan Elmander sewed up the game.

Zavon Hines and Kieron Dyer were guilty of missing good chances early on, as both found themselves one-on-one with the keeper. Zola was disappointed that his side had squandered several opportunities to score.

“It was an unexpected defeat,” he said. “I was waiting for the second goal to come at any moment.

“Finishing was one of the reasons we lost. When you buildup so many opportunities you need to obviously do better.”

The Italian could be boosted by the return of Matthew Upson and Valon Behrami for the trip to Eastlands, who both hobbled off during the team's 3-2 defeat to Liverpool at the weekend.

Luis Jiminez and Junior Stanislas could also return from injury, while new striker Guillermo Franco may also be included.

West Ham have not won in their last four games, although Zola insists the results will come after being impressed with the side's recent performances.

“We wanted to stay in and progress in the competition, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. We are going to make up for it in the next game.

“It's not a great moment for us, obviously, but we're playing good football and that is encouraging, so we just need to improve a few things.”
