WEST HAM boss Gianfranco Zola will step up his attempts to lure Bayern Munich's Italian striker Luca Toni to Upton Park in January, according to the Mirror.
The Hammers' boss recruited Alessandro Diamanti and Guillermo Franco to boost the attacking department, which had comprised of just Carlton Cole and Zavon Hines, who has been promoted to the first-team squad this season.
Zola was linked with a move for Toni in the summer transfer window, but it is believed no concrete offer was made for the Italy international.
Meanwhile, the same newspaper claims West Ham are in pursuit of Livorno midfielder Antonio Candreva.
Zola coached the youngster during his time in charge of Italy's U21 side, while he has also attracted admiring glances from Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho.
It is understood that the Italian club will be willing to listen to offers during the January window as Candreva's contract runs out next summer and a new deal has yet to be agreed.
