ORIENT'S Ben Chorley believes the team's impressive defensive display against Millwall will give the back five the strength to batten down the hatches on plenty more occasions this season.
The clean sheet enjoyed by the O's was their first of the season, while the 1-0 result was also the team's first home win of the campaign.
Indeed, so solid were Orient in defence that keeper Jamie Jones was able to enjoy a quiet game between the sticks, as he was rarely called into action by the Lions.
Chorley was delighted with the effort. “I'm over the moon that we kept a clean sheet. It's probably the longest I've been without one, so it's great to end that,” he told the club's website.
“As a back four we're comfortable and we've got good players in there, but putting it together as a unit takes a lot of work.
“I think Saturday's will be the first of many because we've together for a lot of games, so I'm sure we can build on it.
“It was a massive result. We put the graft in and we were rewarded for that.
“On Saturday we got the fundamentals right. Millwall are a good side and they compete well, but we've got a result and if we go into every game with that attitude we'll be alright.”
Andros Townsend's superbly struck left-footed volley was the difference between the two sides on the day, just a minute after he was introduced for the injured Jason Demetriou.
