STRIKER Terry Dixon got the only goal of the game as West Ham's reserves defeated Grays Athletic in a friendly.
The forward's composed finish secured the 1-0 victory, in a game that saw coach Alex Dyer experiment with a number of young players. Goalkeeper Adam Street was in excellent form as he produced a number of stunning saves to preserve the Hammers' lead.
Dyer told WHUFC.com afterwards: “We won 1-0 and had a couple of first-year players involved. Everyone got 45 minutes and it was a worthwhile exercise.
“The lads played well and passed the ball around well. On the whole we played some good football. In fairness, they could have scored two or three goals but Adam Street pulled out two or three outstanding saves.”
