WEST HAM are being linked with a loan deal for Belarus striker Sergey Kornilenko.
According to the Daily Mail, the Zenit St Petersburg forward has been earmarked by the Hammers to fill the void left by Carlton Cole’s injury.
Kornilenko, 26, has reportedly been told by his club that he can leave, just six months after joining the Russian outfit from Tom Tomsk for £1.2m.
The striker, who has nine goals in 30 international appearances, had been targeted by his former club to return on loan, but Tomsk have admitted they cannot compete with West Ham for his services.
“Sergey admitted that he’d like to play for Tom again, but the question is what proposal will be more interesting for him,” said Tom boss Valeri Nepomniachi.
“It is our understanding that West Ham are interested, so our chances are probably not too great. Nevertheless, we’ve made an offer for Kornilenko.”
Other strikers to have reportedly caught West Ham’s gaze are former player Marlon Harewood and Stoke City’s James Beattie.
