TOTTENHAM boss Harry Redknapp has confirmed that the club have signed Eidur Gudjohnsen on a six-month loan deal, thus ending West Ham’s hopes of landing the former Barcelona forward.
Hammers co-owner David Sullivan revealed his anger at Spurs’ last-ditch attempts to land the Icelandic international after the 31-year-old had a medical at Upton Park.
But Redknapp has swooped and the versatile Gudjohnsen has arrived from French outfit Monaco.
The Tottenham boss told BBC Radio Jersey: “The chairman has probably done a deal for Eidur. We spoke to him the other day.
“We’ve taken him on loan until the end of the season to see how it goes.”
Sullivan had been quoted as saying: “We thought we had a deal and the player had even had a medical. We then heard that Tottenham were trying to speak to the player.
“I can’t say I’m happy about it but I believe in karma and what goes around, comes around.”
West Ham are still expected to confirm the signing of Blackburn striker Benni McCarthy for a fee in the region of £2.5million.
