West Ham v Manchester City
Premier League, Upton Park
Sunday May 9, 4pm
Last meeting: Manchester City 3-1 West Ham (28-09-09). Carlos Tevez returned to haunt his former club with a brace of goals. The Argentine forward proved to be the difference between the sides, as Carlton Cole had earlier equalised for the Hammers. Martin Petrov grabbed the other goal.
The opposition: Manchester City were due to face their closest rivals for the final Champions League place Tottenham last night. Depending on that result, City could still seal fourth place with a win at Upton Park.
Danger men: West Ham fans will know all about Carlos Tevez. The Argentine forward’s goals helped keep the Hammers up in 2007 and they sank Gianfranco Zola’s team earlier this year, but he will receive a warm welcome from the West Ham faithful.
Did you know? City abandon their club crest on shirts in major cup finals, instead preferring to wear a badge of the arms of the City of Manchester to show they are representing the city.
Prediction: West Ham 1 Manchester City 2.
Betting tip: Carlos Tevez will not want to put the boot into his former employers again, but he will be relieved to know that his old club are safe from relegation. So expect him to get the first goal on Sunday.
