GIANFRANCO Zola's future as West Ham boss could be decided this week as the Italian enters crunch talks with club owners David Gold and David Sullivan.
The Hammers manager refused to be drawn on whether he wished to remain at Upton Park after seeing his team play out an entertaining 1-1 draw with Manchester City in their final game of the season yesterday.
Speculation has been growing that Zola will be forced out this summer, although his fate could be decided much quicker than expected after what he described would be a 'long and interesting chat' with the club's chairmen.
“This week I'm going to have a meeting with the club and we'll see what the outcome will be,” said Zola. Asked whether he is keen to stay at West Ham, he replied: “That is a question I will answer after I speak to the owners. The point is talking to them and finding out which is the best thing to do.”
Luis Boa Morte returned after a season-long injury lay-off to score against City, clipping the ball past Marton Fulop after racing on to a clever backheel from Alessandro Diamanti. However, Shaun Wright-Phillips levelled just three minutes later, nodding in at the back post from a pinpoint Adam Johnson cross.
