WEST HAM could swoop for Aston Villa's out of favour defender Nicky Shorey, who began his career at Leyton Orient.

That is according to press speculation linking the 29 year-old left-back with the east London club which is rebuilding its squad after a tough campaign.

The two Davids in charge at Upton Park have vowed to turn the club around by spending on new players and getting rid of the flops.

And if Shorey does move club for a fee, then perhaps Orient will revisit the paperwork from his transfer out of Brisbane Road to Reading, in 2001.

Maybe there is a clause which entitles the cash-strapped League One club to a slice of future transfers.
