WEST HAM are looking to pounce for midfielder Dan Gosling after the player engineered a move away from Everton, according to reports.

The 20-year-old stunned Goodison Park bosses by securing a free transfer at a Premier League tribunal, despite a verbal agreement reportedly being struck between the Toffees and the player on a new three-year deal worth £15,000 a week.

However, as Everton did not put a written contract on the table, Gosling has opted to instigate a move away from Merseyside, with Newcastle United the favourites to land the player after talks yesterday.

The Daily Mail claim West Ham remain interested and could be ready to swoop should Newcastle fail in their bid to sign the youngster.
