WEST HAM boss Avram Grant insists he will have the final say on all football matters, despite club chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan’s reputation for going over the manager’s head.

The pair’s approach angered Grant’s predecessor Gianfranco Zola, who hit out at Sullivan following comments he made about the players in a matchday programme last season. But Isreali manager Grant, who took his first press conference as West Ham manager at Upton Park today (Thursday), claims there will be no such issues with him at the helm.

“So far it’s great. The chairmen are so passionate about the club,” he said. “I’ve heard they are supporters of the club since they were children.

“Our relationship is good. I am the manager, I pick the players and the squad and they know that.”

Asked whether it was he who selects the players the club approaches to sign, Grant replied simply: “Sure.”

His first dip into the transfer market was the free transfer of midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger. However, the manager refused to be drawn on any rumoured targets, with the club having been linked to the likes of Thierry Henry, Miroslav Klose, Joe Cole, Loic Remy and Santos striker Neymar.

“The players here are good players but of course we are looking to make the squad stronger,” added Grant.

“We want to progress and we want to attract new players.”
