WEST HAM are sweating on a work permit for Mexican winger Pablo Barrera, say reports.

The Daily Mirror claim a £3.5million fee has been agreed with his club Pumas but there remains a stumbling block on the player's permit.

Barrera is believed to have agreed terms on a £50,000-a-week contract, with the Hammers beating off competition from Everton, Celtic and Espanyol. However, the Mexico international, who starred for his country at the World Cup in South Africa, has not made the required amount of appearances to guarantee a permit, following a serious cruciate ligament injury, which has thrown the move into doubt.
