West Ham make the short trip to recently relegated Peterborough United tonight as the Hammers prepare for their first friendly of pre-season.
The game with Posh, who endured a dismal season in Championship last term, will also see new manager Avram Grant take charge of his first game for the Iron’s after joining from Portsmouth earlier in the summer.
Grant’s side will be without a number of their leading stars for the trip to London Road as the Israeli boss allows the International’s involved at this summers World Cup to enjoy an extended rest.
England's West Ham contingent Robert Green, Matthew Upson and Scott Parker will be unavailable for selection, along with Valon Behrami and Jonathan Spector, who appeared for Switzerland and USA respectively in South Africa.
Youngster’s Jack Collison and Zavon Hines are also out of contention, as the pair continue their recovery from long term injuries, whilst Frank Nouble’s participation in the UEFA European U19 Championships means he will be another absentee.
However, new signing Thomas Hitzlsperger looks set to make his Hammers debut after his move from Lazio, whilst Herita Ilunga and Keiron Dyer’s return to full training could also see the pair make the journey to the League One side this evening.
