WEST HAM co-owner David Gold has admitted he is still keen to lure David Beckham to Upton Park, where he believes the England international could play a pivotal role in the club securing the Olympic Stadium after the London 2012 Games.
The Hammers have previously expressed their interest in the former England captain, but Gold chose to reiterate his willingness to recruit the LA Galaxy star at the weekend.
The club's joint bid with Newham Council to move in to the Olympic stadium is one of many proposals being considered by the Olympic Park Legacy Company, and Gold believes that Leytonstone-born Beckham could have a key part to play.
He told the Sunday Express: “David Beckham could play a massive part because of his roots, in helping West Ham win the Olympic Stadium.
“And maybe he can still play for us in the autumn of his career. For him to join a club like us and help us bring another dream to fruition would be perfect for everyone. We want him aboard.”
