WEST HAM players and coaches have been shouting abuse at goalkeeper Robert Green during training so that he can get used to the jeers that he is likely to receive from the stands when the Premier League season kicks off on August 14.
Green, who made a costly blunder for England during their World Cup opener against the United States by letting a tame Clint Dempsey shot bobble into the net, has already been booed and taunted by fans in pre-season friendlies.
However, the Hammers staff have adopted a unique way of helping the stopper cope with the abuse, as they have been dishing it out themselves during training to recreate the scene that surely awaits him when the team travel to Aston Villa for their first game of the season.
Green is a keen follower of sports psychology and clearly believes the strategy will help nullify the boo boys.
The 30-year-old was the first to admit blame for the Dempsey goal, immediately coming out to face the media glare and hold his hands up for the error.
