WEST HAM'S current predicament can be explained in some part by their shocking record in front of goal this season.
The Hammers have attempted more shots on goal than even Manchester United during the first half of the campaign, but they have missed the target more than anybody else – bar Birmingham.
Little wonder then, that the club have been linked with moves for several strikers in January, including Manchester United's Michael Owen and Norwich City's Grant Holt.
The club will have to become only the second team in Premier League history to survive relegation after being bottom at Christmas.
