WEST HAM’S Scott Parker was yesterday voted the Football Writers’ Player of the Year after a sensational season for his club.

Parker was a surprise winner, beating the likes of Tottenham’s Gareth Bale and Manchester United’s Nani to the award.

He joins the likes of Sir Tom Finney, Bobby Moore and George Best on the honours list.

The Hammers ace has been a virtual ever-present for the Hammers during their troubled campaign, although he has failed to help steer them away from the drop zone, where they are currently entrenched.

He is set to miss today’s clash with former club Chelsea with an Achilles injury.
