AVRAM Grant insists there is still 'a lot of belief' in the West Ham squad, despite staring down the barrel of relegation at the foot of the Premier League.
The Hammers were brushed aside for the fourth league game running at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Chelsea trotting out 3-0 winners to leave the visitors anchored to the bottom of the table.
Yet Grant claims all is not lost, and chose to focus on the positives from a match that West Ham competed admirably in for much of the 90 minutes.
“There is a lot of belief,” said Grant. “Against Chelsea, we created chances and we defended well. The spirit was very good. We played a very good team in the best shape of their season and we deserved more from this. The final score does not tell the story.
“Until 85 minutes it was 1-0 and we had some big chances before then. Everyone said Chelsea would beat us easily, especially without Scott Parker and others (Matthew Upson and Gary O'Neil) but everyone saw we deserved more.”
