JONATHAN Spector is haunted by the spectre of Newcastle’s relegation in 2009, as West Ham fight for their Premier League lives.

"There have been times when we have played really good football and a lot of people have been looking at us and saying, 'They are too good to go down',” said Spector.

“They were saying that about Newcastle a couple of seasons ago and we don't want to repeat what they did,” warned the American.

Spector was talking ahead of this weekend’s trip to take to Euro hopeful’s Manchester City.
