Two of the players who will be bidding to help West Ham United secure an instant return to the Premier League in the play-off final at Wembley tomorrow have been selected in The Football League’s Championship Team of the Season.
Centre-half James Tomkins and talismanic goal-scoring midfielder Kevin Nolan were selected by the pundits of BBC Sport’s The Foootball League Show, including Manish Bhasin, Steve Claridge, Mark Clemmit and Leroy Rosenior.
Winger Matt Phillips, who is set to be in the Blackpool side the Hammers face tomorrow, has also been included in the XI that consists of players entirely from the Championship’s top six clubs.
The team in full is: Adam Federici (Reading); Kevin McNaughton (Cardiff City), Curtis Davies (Birmingham City), James Tomkins (West Ham United), Ian Harte (Reading); Matt Phillips (Blackpool), Kevin Nolan (West Ham United), Peter Whittingham (Cardiff City), Adam Lallana (Southampton); Jason Roberts (Reading), Rickie Lambert (Southampton).
