West Ham United star Mark Noble admitted their play-off triumph over Blackpool was the perfect way to earn a place back in the Premier League.

The Hammers were disappointed to miss out on automatic promotion in third place but their 2-1 win at Wembley ensured they returned to the top flight in style.

Hammer of the year Noble said: "We were gutted we never got automatic promotion but if you're going to do it that's obviously the best way to go up.

"The atmosphere and just everything about it was brilliant. After the season we've had I don't think anyone could say we didn't deserve it.

"There is so much riding on one game. They say it's the biggest game in football and you can understand why because the Premier League is the best place to play.

"As soon as we got relegated last year, I said I'd played 90 per cent of my football in the Premier League and I wanted to get back there as soon as possible which we've done."
